Nominal Fee Locations: (additional fees may apply)

 

*  Fort Pulaski -  An entrance fee of $5.00 per person is charged for all visitors 16 years of age and older. Visitors 15 years old and under are free. Your receipt is valid for an additional 6 days of visitation.  (Military can sign up for a yearly pass to enter state parks for free).  Includes viewing and exploring the fort, various exibits and lessons (ex: firing the cannon), walking the grounds and hiking the paths.  

 

*  UGA Aquarium - (accepts only cash and checks): Admission: Ages 13-54: $6, Children ages 3-12: $3,Seniors (55+): $3, Military w/ID: $3, Ages 1-2: Free.  Price includes visiting the small aquarium.  They have a few exhibits and a touch tank.  Outdoors they have paths that go around the waterway.

 

* Oatland Wildlife Center - (admission Rates: Adult (18+) $5.00, Child (4-17) $3.00, Child (3 and under) FREE, Senior Citizen 65+) $3.00, Military Rate $3.00, Student Rate $3.00).   Price includes entrance to see the habitats, parking, viewing of the animals, petting zoo.  Prices may increase when they have a special event.

 

 

* Savannah Ogeechee Canal - ($3 Adult, $1 Child 4-12 or $5.00 family).  Price includes viewing the garden, walking the canal hiking paths and seeing the area.

 

Free Locations: (additional events may cost)

 

*  Botanical Gardens - Typical botanical garden.  Has a lot of flowers and greenery.  There is a small children's garden, some paths to walk and a pond.  This is a small site, but lovely on a nice day.

 

* Bamboo Farms & Coastal Gardens - Similar to the botanical gardens, but has bamboo growing.  They have events through out the year, so check with them often.

 

* Forysth Park - Has a playground for younger children that is separate from the older children's play ground.  Also holds many different events, as well as a farmer's market on the weekend.

 

* Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery - Has catch and release fishing events for children (free).  Also allows tours and free catch and release fishing.  There are small walking paths around the area.

 

More Costly Locations: 

 

* Georgia Sea Turtle Center (Jekyll Island) - (additional cost to enter the Island via tolls) - ($7 for adults (13+ years), $6 for Seniors (65+ years), $5 for children (4-12 years), FREE for children 3 and under, $6 for Active Duty Military Personnel, College Students and Teachers (ID required)) - The price includes visiting an educational area, and seeing the sea turtles in the hospital.  During certain times they allow you to watch them work with the turtles.

 

* Fort McAllister State Park - (additional parking fee of $5.00, to visit the park).  (The park has a small area that can be visited for free (after parking fee).  If you want to enter the historic area, the prices are: $7.50 Adults, $6.50 Seniors (62+), $4.50 Youth (6-17), $2.00 Child (under 6), Group rates available with advance notice.) - Camping is also available (additional fee).  

 

* Old Fort Jackson -  (Admission cost:$7 per adult$4 per child (ages 2-12) - Price includes visiting the fort and daily events (ex: firing of the cannon).  Not much else to do while there, really no walkways, but the Fort is fun.

 

* Fort King George (Darien Georgia) - (Admission cost: $7.50 Adults , - $7.00 Seniors (62+), - $4.50 Youth (6-17), - Free (under 6)) - Fee includes viewing the fort and walking the grounds.  They have free parking. 

 

* The Savannah Children's Museum - (Admission cost: $7.50 per person ages 1 and older) - Price includes the children's muesum, with no time limit.  There is also a free parking lot.  There are daily activities, so check to see what is happening when you go.  This is an outdoor museum, so if the weather is bad, they will close.  Please call ahead to find out.

 

* Georgia State Railroad Museum - (Admission Cost: $10 per adult, $6 per child (ages 2-12)) - Price includes the railroad Museum, and certain activities throughout the day.  If you want to ride the train, that is an additional fee of $2.00 per person.  There are old rail road cars that people can go through, as well as tour the grounds of the old railroad.  This also has a free parking lot which is shared with the Children's Museum.

 

* Savannah History Museum -  (Admission cost: $7 per adult, $4 per child (ages 2-12)) - Price includes touring the small museum.  There are some hands on for children.  It is inside the larger Visitor Center, which has a small eatery, restrooms and touristy information.  There is a free parking lot attached to the building (at least it says that it is free, I park across the street in the Railroad Museums parking lot which I know is free).

 

*****MONEY SAVING INFORMATION*****

 

You can buy a year pass for certain museums.  If you plan on going often, it is definitely worth it.  I have the CHS Family pass, and I have gotten my moneys worth.  When we have nothing to do, we just take the family and go.  There are additional passes that are cheaper and does not include the children's Museum.  Please click here to review all these options.
